Class of 1994 (Older Messages)

It's me again. The last time I started writing on this site and was starting to contact old friends it wasn't too long after our computer took a poop. Anyway, I am still very happily married to my wife Kelly, and we have three beautiful kids, Kortni soon to be 11 in february, little Wayne (a.k.a. Bubba) 8 who has skipped the 2nd grade and went into 3rd grade (he gets his high intellect from his mother, and jacob 6 and let me tell you guys he is a carbon copy of his daddy.

Since I last was on the old site plenty of great things finnally happened for us. If you remember (those that know) we lost everything in a house fire back in 1998 shortly after coming home from the U.S.M.C. and we lost our car two days before that. Well now we own our own home, my wife has her dream vehicle (06 ford expidition limited) i drive my old ford explorer, however i finally got my dream vehicle, my Harley. This isn't to brag, this is to show that things don't always stay bad. All we have to do is keep our heads up no matter how great the odds.

Trust me there are a few of us that have beaten those odds, the Matiases have also beaten the odds. so to the angel and alex and their brother Pete, we did it, we made it, the next drinks are on me.

But anyway, here are coming up on 12 years out of high school. I'm glad to see so many of us doing good. My little brother now attends Gulf High. I believe that he will be the last of the Higgs family to attend Gulf unless my kids or his go there. Who knows what the future holds.

Hey April see ya soon buddy!!!!

Well another year has passed and it has been an eventful one. I am sorry to hear about some of our friends who have recently passed, they will me remembered. On another note, I am currently serving on a deployment in the Persian Gulf. It has been a trying time but has been good. I am currently coming off a recent down time from being injured on the Flight Deck. NO broken bones but plently of scars to look at. I am also coming up my 12 year mark in the Navy, it is now the make it or break it time for me as the decision to stay or go nears. There are dreams I am wanting to fullfill, but at the same time, i still want to serve. Most likely I will stay. I am doing really good. I have no debt at all, I won my house and new truck. Now, Now is the time for the other half, finding that someone to settle down with and have that family I have always wanted. Its not easy finding someone who accepts the Military and the person behind it. I am proud though to hear and see that I have a little nephew from my brother. His little one is really cute. He also has a beautiful family. I wish them well. Well, I must be going, I still dont when I will return to stateside again, but when the word is given, I will be home proudly. I see that the BUCS are doing well this year and continue. ONe more game and we have the division once again. GO BUCS!!!!!!!!

Whatever course he took in life, he provided me with one of the few GENUINE friendships I had in my teens and for that I will be forever grateful.

Well..update time. Kelly (Grabowski) Socobia? Can't seem to spell it.... anyway, one of Kelly's little girls "Gabriella" goes to school with my son John. They are in class together and are great friends. She's cute, a little tomboy. Was the yellow power ranger for halloween! :) I still can't believe we are all growing up and getting older. Well, my daughter is upset. Gotta go.

Now life in Holiday. I am back in school full time, hoping to get pregnant again in the spring and we should be opening a business in the next few months. I'm excited, it looks like this next year will be fun.

Ok, I'll stop by some other time just to see what's going on. I don't really talk to anyone here but it's interesting to see everyone. Kelly Grabowski's daughter is in my sons kindergarten class. I don't know her new last name. It's kinda neat seeing us all grown up. I don't feel 29. I still feel 16. I feel too young to have 2 kids and be planning the 3rd but I know I am indeed getting older. It just feels strange. Well, have a good day or night or whatever.

Well I am off yet again for another deployment to the Gulf. I was order with the ship to leave early and am headed over-there. I will hopefully see most and all of y'all in 7 months. I am hoping that the war on gas prices will stop, this is rediculoius. I know one thing for a fact, i am not getting rid my new toy truck for nothing. I am proud to serve and will keep going till i cant go no more. talk to y'all later. Go bucs!

Enjoyed seeing all the pictures from the reunion, I had planned on going but didn't think it was fair to go without my husband who at the time was serving in Iraq.. You all looked good, Congradulations to all of you whom had new additions to your families in 2004/2005..

I have been working for Bright House in Pinellas County and continue to study to further advance in the field.

It's hard to believe what happened to Kenny. When I was stationed in San Diego and Rachel was about to have our first, I worked a second job at Papa Johns as a pizza delivery guy and amazingly enough I ran into him at his girlfriends house near National City.... We talked a little bit and he mentioned heading north east for a new job lead installing pools. He also mentioned he served in the marines prior and was kicked out. I was so shocked and when I read the article from the link in the other post at first I didn't recognize him. His hair was lighter and he didn't have a mustache in Cali.....

Anyway, I've been going through severe changes. My mother passed away unexpectedly at the age of 47 on December 19th. Dealing with life without her is very hard.

Other than that things have been great. I'm coming home on May 16th to visit the family and a few friends. I can't wait. I'm so sick of winter already! lol We are deciding to sell our house and move out of New York within the next year. We are trying for Pennsylvania as the property is twice cheaper than New York. An average single family home runs up here around 300 thousand and up (and that's with no acreage). Finally going to be getting out of Retail!!

I hope and pray that everyone stays safe and is okay.

I hope all is well with everyone. I really miss Florida. I was hoping my kids would get to go to the same schools we all did. I remember a lot of you and some of you came after I moved. Some went to River Ridge. I remember lots of fun and silliness. I can't believe 30 is almost here. How time flies. When I see some of your names it brings back memories. A native of St. Petersburg, she moved to Holiday in 1979 and attended Dixie Hollins High and graduated from Gulf High School, New Port Richey. She was office manager for Henderson Prestress Concrete, Tarpon Springs. She was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, Elfers. Survivors include her parents, Vincent P. and Jeanette Albanese, Holiday; three brothers, Vincent and Jeff of Holiday, and John, Tampa; and maternal grandmother, Nellie Farfaglia, St. Petersburg. Thomas B. Dobies Funeral Home, Holiday.

also, Chris Ryan had past away years ago and Matt Hartsfield that I know of. Too young to be going. I was surprised they had so many deaths for under 30 on the orbituary page. Very sad...

About the last reunion. It doesn't look like many people came. I'd like to venture a guess as to why. "It was expensive" Reunions are usually not the time of ones life and most of us Pasco Alumni aren't rich nor "well off"....Statiscally, not many of our Alumni would be able to feasibly afford this reunion. Many of us could manage to pay for it, but it was not a reasonable expense for many...It's not like this is the Alumni of the Beverly Hills. This is Pasco, New Port Richey...Let's be realistic. I'd rather put the money towards my children, towards my home or towards my vacation to Jordan and Syria. I hope if you want a more successful reunion the next time you pick a cheaper place and agenda. Not trying to be crass, just telling it like it is. If their is one thing I want people to remember me for, it's my honesty.

Kathleen McWade, a 1994 graduate of Gulf High School and a graduate of Northeastern University in Boston, recently completed the New York City Marathon in 4 hours, 27 minutes.

McWade, daughter of Mary McWade of New Port Richey, has a bachelor's in biology from Northeastern. She lives in Boston and is supervisor for a financial firm.

You guys have just reminded me of how old we are getting. lol I do remember some of you but others I have no clue (sorry). I left home in 1994 and ended up here ever since. I'm about an hour west of NYC. I'm married to a Federal Officer and have 3 beautiful boys. I am currently a Customer Service Manager in retail, but I'm fulfilling my dream of becoming a nurse in Pediatrics. Still a long road, but almost there.

Things have been bumpy a bit (especially the year 2001). In February '01, My brother was killed. (For those of you who do remember, he was mentally retarded and living in a home. Unfortunately the staff on duty was at fault. I now donate to all kinds of organizations that involve the mentally retarded in memory of his name with the settlement), Then in May of '01, I was diagnosed with cancer, then of course there was 9/11.

It was very rough and I fought a long and hard battle with my illness and lost some friends in NYC. I am happy to say that I am now cancer free for a little over a year now.

I learned alot that year about life. 2001 pretty much changed my outlook. Life is precious and you never know when you will take your last breath. My advice to everyone is this....Live life to the fullest, never go to sleep at night angry at someone you love, and if you have children, cherish every moment.

You know, it's funny....But one day we are children, the next day, we are adults living our lives. The hardest part is being away from home. I travel to NPR every now and then (about once every 2 years). I miss home, my family and friends. I think of some of you with the fondest of memories. (especially some who grew up with me from Mittye p Locke and Gulf Middle School) How I miss those days. Every now and then I'll take a look back and wonder where you've gone in life and how you's are doing. I just wanted to say thank you for the good memories that last a lifetime. I wish you all success, Love, and happiness.

The false e-mail lists me as now living in "Denial", and it says extremely rude things about hooters wings and cleavage. I DID NOT POST THE PREVIOUS RUDE E-MAIL THAT PURPORTS TO HAVE COME FROM ME.

To whoever sent this, I think it is okay to say your peace directly, but it is not okay to literally put words in someone else's mouth. Tell me off if you want or talk behind my back. But, you went beyond pure nastiness or gossip, and you actually sent a rude message posing as me. I AM APPAULED, EMBARASSED, OFFENDED, AND ENRAGED.

I certainly hope you were drunk when you thought that writing that message was a good idea. If not, grow up. And, beware that such actions succept you to a law suit for libel and slander.

I apologize to anyone who believed that I sent that nasty e-mail and who thought I was complete scum since that message was sent.

It was great to see all those who were able to attend the reunion. I had the best time in ..... Gee I dont know how many years. Everyone still looks the same and have really done god for themselves. I just wish there was more time for us all to hang out and have more fun, but as we know it - reality has to suck us back into work till another 5 yrs or so..he he he. Thanx Kenji & Debbie, I had a great time, you guys were greatest hosts as were your neighbors who let us use the street & such for a temporary parking lot for a few hours. Y'all were outstanding. For those already know and those who don't, I am returning to Virginia soon to return to Duty for preparation of the return trip to Iraq to bring our troops home and help the citizens over there that need it (Operation - Clean up....Away) If anyone has pics, please send me copies, I will assist in fund if needed. My camera was broke, so I had lost out, :( . Well, I hope all are doing well and those who attended got back to their destinations of travel. I hope you all understand that I only feel that way because a few years ago my career involved serving chicken wings and showing off my cleavage for tip money. Now that I've decided to actually do something with my life, I felt the overwhelming sensation to rub your faces in it...my career choice, not my cleavage. Although, if the tip was right...

So, hopefully you all understand that I've overcome my personal issues and have put the past behind me...along with my orange compression shorts. I'm obviously over high school and all the petty things that happened there! On to bigger and better things!

I'd also like to hear from Tracy Remson...anyone know her where abouts? (We lost contact in 1998 when I moved to Indiana.)

TO THOSE OF YOU WHO ATTENDED THE REUNION,
I would like to complile a cd of photos and possibly the graduation video we watched at Kenji's (forgive me if I spelled that incorrectly) and Debbie's place onto a cd. (THANKS AGAIN to the two of you for being such wonderful hosts!) If I can manage to do all of that, I will burn copies for anyone who might be interested. (As much as I hate to- I will have to ask for the cost of cd, packaging, and postage because we are hoping to move back to FL, and are saving money...)

Anyway~ If you have any pics on digital, PLEASE consider putting them onto a cd and mailing them to me, so that I can add them to the collection for everyone to enjoy. I am sure I missed taking pics of some of you, and would love to have everyone's faces included!

As for the reunion I thought about it. I came to the conclusion that 10 years was just not long enough to give me the urge to jump for joy and join the ones who are going. Besides the fact that I have to work through the weekend.

I will not be able to attend the reunion as I am busy with law school. I am in my 3rd year at Stetson Law, and I have a budding career as a Patent Attorney. I also am engaged to a fellow law student, and we plan to be married after we graduate and move to Miami.

I never had many friends in high school. Many of you thought that I was either stuck-up or a bitch because of my attractive appearance and my shy demeanor. There were also many of you who insulted me by telling me that I thought I was 'better' than everyone else. For all of you who told me I was 'better' than everyone else, maybe you were right. I am highly educated and successful now. But, I never wanted to be better than you; I just want to be the best that I can be. I hold no animosity, and I hope that each of you have also found success in your own lives.

On a higher note...my wife Sarah and I are expecting the arrival of a baby by the end of September (which is one of the reasons we cannot make it to the reunion). We are getting very excited about that.

Well I see people are getting excited and aggravated by the reunion. If ya hate the idea; so be it, but please voice it else where. All you are doing is showing others you haven't changed or have gotten worse. So school wasn't good for many, ok; move on and enjoy life. Some people still dream and wish to have what some of us used to have or now have have. For those attending the reunion in 1 month, I hope all is going well for and to see you there. It will be a good break from Active Duty before getting back into the grove of things for next deployment back to Iraq next year. It is a sure thing and I look foward to helping those over there as well as bringing them back home to their loved ones. Go Bucs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It is not like Gulf High was or is a good school. Not even top 1000. BOO HISS!!!!

Well It looks like my Sea-Det was cancelled, but now I have the chance to work with the New Super Hornet the ship will recieve this coming fall. It's not really a bad plane, big, but no way near better than the F-14 Tomcat that is replacing.

On another note, I have heard from a few of y'all and am glad to hear that y're doing well. I hope to see all when in late August. Go Bucs!!!!

Just a quick line to say hi. I am married to a wonderful woman and have three beautiful kids. Yeah, that's right Wayne Higgs settled down and is happy. I don't know if my wife and kids are happy but I am. (ha ha) I currently work for Verizon doing residential and business lines. Also next week I will be starting a motorcycle mechanics program. But anyway guys be cool.

Well, It sure has been an interesting time up here in Va and in the Navy. Tomorrow I lay to rest; a friend that I have served with since being stationed onboard the Roosevelt. CT3 Skinner will be missed by many, yet remembered for the wonderful things she has done for the ship and the crew.

On another note, I am sad to hear that the reunion is being pushed back, but also glad do the fact that I am being called out to sea for support of the Summer Olympics in Europe. I am temporarily being assigned to the U.S.S. Enterprise CVN-65 for the next 2 months. I am glad to go out to sea for qualifications as well as a break from the dreaded shipyard period. It is hard in the shipyard, working long hours and not being able to goto sea till next year sometime. I will be back in August for the new Reunion Date in late August. I do hope to see all y'all there. Go Buccaneers!!!!
