| Twelve
members from GHS Spanish Honor Society attended the Florida State
Spanish Conference in Orlando on April 3-5, 2008. These outstanding
students participated in a series of impromptu speeches, poetry
readings, and dramatic presentations. Upon completion of the conference
we placed 4th in our division with 5 members receiving top ratings of
“sobresaliente” (outstanding) 9 with superior and 3 with
excelente. The Dramatic production of “Como Agua Para
Chocolate” (Like Water For Chocolate) received a superior rating.
Matthew Ong,
our society secretary, performed a piano recital "La Malagueña" by the
famous composer Isaac Albéniz and received first place. It was very
moving to hear him play so flawlessly.
It was a
great experience for all participants. Special thanks go to the
remaining members of the society who worked diligently on stage props
and assistance with practices. Special kudos goes to Mrs. Logan, our
volunteer Media assistant, for taking the time from her schedule to
partake in this weekend adventure.
