March 7, 2005

Dear GHS Community,

Here is the text of an announcement which was made at the end of the school day today, March 7, 2005.

Attention Students and Staff: Today in the Moog Road area one of our female students on her way to the bus stop was approached by a man. The girl was alone as she walked along. The man called to her and when she did not stop he began to pursue her. She found assistance at a home in the area. She was not physically hurt.

This incident points up the great need for all persons to be wary of unusual people and vehicles. We are always in contact with the Pasco County Sheriff's Office and the New Port Richey Police Department when these incidents occur. Should you have information regarding this or any other dangerous situation please contact the Pasco County Sheriff's Office.

We always have administrators, teachers and police supervising on the campus....but we cannot always be on the scene when things happen on the way to and from school.

This situation is one more example of how important it is for parents, schools and the community to work together to ensure the safety of our children.

A letter of caution will appear later this evening on the school's web site: gulfhigh.org.

Please caution children to be wary of strangers. The Pasco County Sheriff's Office and the New Port Richey Police are on the lookout for this person. Should you have any information regarding this, please contact the Pasco County Sheriff's Office at 727-847-5878 or the New Port Richey Police at 727-841-4550.

Please let me assure you that we have teachers, administrators, and police on campus who are assigned to morning and afternoon supervision.

This situation is one more example of how important it is for parents, schools, and the community to work together to ensure the safety of our children.

Sincerely,
Thomas E. Imerson
Principal
