Use of Campus After School Hours
Dear Parents/Guardians of Gulf High School Students:
Over the past few weeks we have experienced a great number of students who remain on campus while waiting for parent/guardian pickup, adult education classes or other evening activities.
School Board policy allows the administration, faculty and staff to be responsible for students for up to 1/2 hour after their regular day school classes end. With this in mind we will begin enforcing a "No students remaining on campus" policy after 2:30 p.m. unless they are registered and are attending adult education classes or are directly involved in some after school activity in which case they would be attending.
This means that students who attend evening activities and adult education classes are not to be permitted back onto the campus more than 15 minutes, or a reasonable time before the start of the evening activity. Traditionally evening classes begin at 5:30 p.m., Junior varsity / Varsity activities at 6:00 p.m. or 7:00 p.m. It is further expected that students would be picked up promptly at the conclusion of the evening activities which include adult education classes and sporting activities.
We now live in an age where we must be more aware of safety for all our students and thus supervising numbers of students not attending classes or not directly involved in after school activities can no longer be possible.
We thank you in advance for your cooperation in confirming with your child(ren) that they must leave the campus in a timely manner at the conclusion of the regular school hours.

REQUIRED NOTIFICATION TO BUILDING OCCUPANTS, PARENTS AND STUDENTS
We are required by the asbestos hazard emergency response act to send the following notification to parents and students of our schools: NOTIFICATION OF INSPECTION FOR ASBESTOS CONTAINING MATERIALS IN PUBLIC SCHOOL. The Environmental Protection Agency ( EPA) has issued a final rule, 40 CFR Part 763, asbestos containing materials in schools, commonly referred to as AHERA. This rule requires all local Education agencies (LEA's) to identify asbestos containing materials (ACM) in their school buildings and to take appropriate actions to control release of asbestos fibers. All inspections for Gulf High School have been completed and a Management Plan describing the result of the inspection and the action plan to control any asbestos found during inspection, where applicable, has been submitted to the Governor for approval. A copy of this plan is located in the administrative office of this school and at the District School Board of Pasco County Maintenance Department and is available for review upon request.
