The city had recently purchased the building, which had been used also as a youth center and a church. One Gulf teacher recalled that in the mid-1980s, an agreement was worked out so that special education students who had finished all of their assignments could go there on Friday afternoons and play pool or do other activities. The convenience store originally catered to students before and after school. |
