Gulf student receives national honor

Amber Trippie GULF HIGH SCHOOL, June 25, 2006. -- Amber Trippie, a Gulf High School student, was recently selected for membership by the National Society of High School Scholars.

NSHSS Founder and Chairman Claes Nobel said, "On behalf of NSHSS, I am honored to recognize the hard work, sacrifice, and commitment that Amber has demonstrated to achieve this exceptional level of academic excellence. Amber is now a member of a unique community of scholars -- a community that represents our very best hope for the future."

According to its website, the mission of the National Society of High School Scholars is to recognize academic excellence and to encourage members to apply their unique talents, vision, and potential for the betterment of themselves and the world. The organization was founded in 2002 by Mr. Nobel, who is a native of Sweden and a member of the Nobel Prize family..

Amber was a freshman in Gulf's pre-IB program in the past school year. She is the daughter of Kathy Anderson of Holiday.
