Florida Learn & Serve honors Mrs. Mudry

Victoria Mudry ORLANDO, Nov. 13, 2007.—Victoria Mudry, Gulf's reading coach, received the Rising Star Award today from Florida Learn & Serve at the annual Florida Service-Learning Institute. She is the first winner of this award, which will be presented annually to a teacher or administrator who has had significant accomplishment in the field in a short period of time but has engaged a large number of students, had a wide impact in his or her school or community, and who has great potential for further growth or achievement. She received $500 to use toward advancing knowledge and skills in service learning. The award was presented to her by Joe Follman, Director of the Florida Alliance for Student Service (FASS) at FSU. Mrs. Mudry was among the presenters at the institute today, discussing the hurricane awareness program she organized at Gulf.
