DeWalt named Sams Club Teacher of the Year

GULF HIGH SCHOOL, May 8, 2007—Gulf High School teacher and coach Travis DeWalt was named a Sams Club Teacher of the Year today. DeWalt received a gift certificate to Sams Club and Gulf High School receives a $1,000 grant from Wal-Mart. Mr. DeWalt, who teaches English and is the head wrestling coach, received the same honor in 2004. The Wal-Mart Teacher of the Year program annually recognizes thousands of outstanding educators across the country. Customers have the opportunity to nominate a teacher of their choice each year through an in-store nomination and balloting process, which takes place during the month of February. One outstanding teacher is recognized in each of Wal-Mart Store and Sam's Club each year. Each winning teacher is recognized on National Teacher's Day.
