Anne Currelly named Teacher of the Year

Anne Currelly GULF HIGH SCHOOL, Oct. 1, 2007—Anne Currelly, Gulf High School's French teacher, has been named our Teacher of the Year. The announcement was made today in an email to the faculty and staff.

Mme. Currelly began teaching at Gulf in 1991. Before she taught here, she taught at Gulf Middle School for six years. She has mainly taught French, but she is also certified to teach Spanish, and has taught both languages at both schools. She has a B. A. degree in Elementary Education from Berea College in Kentucky.

This year she is teaching French I, II, III, and IV, AP French, and several levels of IB French. She has taken students to Europe in the summers every other year since 1989.

Anne Murphy was born in the Panama Canal Zone. Her mother is from France and Anne visited France several times as a child and began learning the language then. She lived with her parents in Ireland for two years. She is a graduate of Tarpon Springs High School. Her husband Randy, a real estate broker, is a 1979 graduate of Gulf High School.

The teacher of the year is selected each year by a vote of the faculty.
