State wrestling tournament

LAKELAND, Feb. 17, 2007.—Both Gulf wrestlers who qualified for the state tournament placed. Mike Calafiore (center) took first place in his weight division and Timmy Longnecker (fourth from left) took fifth place. Calafiore, who was a state runner up last season, defeated Miami Monsignor Pace's Wilson Metelius to win the state title. Gulf finished 12th in the state in Class 1-A.
