Students try out “clickers”
GULF HIGH SCHOOL, Nov. 18, 2008.—Students in Mr. Uchacz’s class were apparently the first
at Gulf to take a test using the new “clickers” purchased by the school district for each high school.
Gulf received enough of the devices for four classrooms. Students answer questions using the device, which
looks like a TV remote control. If the teacher wishes to see how many students are
comprehending a lesson, he can ask questions and instantly see on his computer which students chose
the right answer (green box) or the wrong answer (red box). Several students interviewed
after the test said they found the devices easy to use but preferred answering questions on a piece of paper.
