![]() NJROTC Distinguished Unit Award![]()
GULF HIGH SCHOOL, August 27, 2008.—Gulf’s
NJROTC unit was recognized this morning with a Distinguished Unit Award based on last
year’s performances and service. According to Commander Nesthus, this is only the second such award
in 28 years for the Gulf NJROTC.
The Distinguished Unit Award is presented to the top 30% of the
(all-service) JROTC Units throughout the United States, Europe and Asia for
“Outstanding Performance” during the school year 2007-2008.
The citation
reads: “In recognition of the exceptional professional ability, initiative
and dedication demonstrated by its Naval Science instructors; the
outstanding support provided by the school administration; the excellent
atmosphere prevalent throughout the school in support of the Navy Junior
ROTC program; the exemplary appearance, military bearing and courtesies
exhibited by its cadets; the active participation of the unit in support of
school, community and other extracurricular activities and services; and the
superb discipline demonstrated by the cadets during drill meets and other
public appearances, the Gulf High School Junior ROTC unit has been selected
as a Distinguished Unit.”
