![]() New teachers join the Gulf faculty
GULF HIGH SCHOOL, Aug. 12, 2008.—Several new teachers and other personnel have been added to our staff at the start of the 2008-09 school year. Bruno Buonsanto will be our ISS instructor. Mr. Buonsanto is a 1989 graduate of Gulf High School. He is the defensive coach for the Gulf Middle School football team. Mr. Buonsanto is a Navy veteran. He has served as the manager of a landfill in Hudson and worked for Waste Management Inc. and Peterson’s Service Corp. He is married to Roxanne Buonsanto, who is a Gulf teacher and our cheerleading coach. They have a daughter who is a sophomore at Gulf and two younger sons. Phyllis Butler will teach health occupations. She replaces Ms. Lowry-Christie. Mrs. Butler has been an assistant director of a skilled nursing facility. She has been a nurse for eight years. She was born in St. Petersburg. She is a Hudson High School graduate and attended PHCC. She has three daughters, two of whom are students at Hudson High School. Sam Jackson will teach reading. He previously taught at Bayonet Point Point Middle School and Ridgewood High School. He is a graduate of the University of the South in Sewanee, Tenn. He was born in Lexington, Ky. He reports that he has spent the summers rehabbing homes in New Jersey. Chris Murphy will teach Economics and World History. He replaces Coach Feldman, who has moved to Crystal River High School. Mr. Murphy previously taught at Palm Harbor University High School and Mitchell High School. He has a B. A. in Economics and an M. S. in Social Studies Education, both from USF. He also attended Clearwater High School. He was born in Hamilton, Ohio. He and his wife have two children, who are two and four years old. Joel Murray will teach PIB English I and English II. He had twelve years of teaching experience before coming to Gulf. Last year he taught at Nature Coast High School. He is also an adjunct professor at St. Leo University, where he teaches academic and creative writing. He has a B. A. in English Literature and Writing from St. Leo University, an M. A. in Creative Writing from Lancaster University in England, and an M. Div. from Asbury Theological Seminary in Wilmore, Ky. He was born in Chester, S. C., and attended high school at Hernando Christian Academy in Brooksville. Mr. Murray says he likes cats, playing the guitar, and gardening. April Wright will teach reading. She taught high school last year in Hillsborough County. She has a B. S. degree in business administration from USF and is close to earning an M. A. degree in reading education from USF. She served in the army for 9 years. Mrs. Wright was born in Bloomington, Indiana, but grew up in Roseburg, Ore., and attended Roseburg High School. She has two daughters who attend Moon Lake Elementary School. Susan Reed is our new social worker. She works at Gulf High School and Deer Park and Marlowe elementary schools. She has an undergraduate degree in social work from the University of Wisconsin at Whitewater and a master's degree in social work from the University of Wisconsin at Madison. She attended Evansville High School in Evansville, Wisconsin. She was born in Evansville. For the last ten years she has worked at Seven Springs Middle School, Anclote Elementary School, and Gulfside Elementary School. Her husband, Kent Reed, teaches P. E. at Ridgewood High School and is a football coach there. They have two sons at Deer Park Elementary School. Natasha Krause is our new school psychologist. She works at Gulf and at Gulfside Elementary School. She has an Ed. S. degree in school psychology from the University of Florida. She was born in St. Petersburg and attended Boca Ciega High School. This is her second year in the Pasco County school system; last year she worked at Paul R. Smith Middle School and Gulfside Elementary School. Her husband, David Krause, works at the American Cancer Society in Tampa. |
