Melody GoodenoughGULF HIGH SCHOOL, Jan. 13, 2004 -- Melody Goodenough, the valedictorian of the Gulf High School class of 2003, has been named the top scholar from Pasco County for 2003.

The selection was made by the Florida Bright Futures scholarship program, which used a combination of standardized test scores and grade point averages in its calculations.

Melody received a letter from the Florida Board of Education earlier this month informing her of the selection.

With the honor comes an added scholarship of $1500 per year.

Melody is the daughter of David Lee Goodenough and the late Linda Joy Goodenough. She grew up in New Port Richey.  She was home schooled until third grade before attending Mittye P. Locke Elementary, Gulf Middle, and Gulf High School.

She currently attends the University of South Florida and is majoring in mathematics.
