Gulf staff members examine IB programs at other schools

GULF HIGH SCHOOL, Feb. 5, 2005 -- Nine Gulf teachers and two Gulf administrators have examined the International Baccalaureate programs offered by other high schools in Florida in the last week.

Dr. Lepley, the assistant principal who will oversee Gulf's IB program, arranged the visits. She and Mr. Imerson were the two administrators who visited the schools. Some of the teachers who participated may teach in the pre-IB program which Gulf will offer to ninth graders next year.

The teachers all visited Sebastian River High School in Sebastian and Spruce Creek High School in Port Orange. Most of the teachers also visited Land o'Lakes High School or St. Petersburg High School.

Spruce Creek has the second-largest IB diploma program in North America, with about 1000 students.

The Gulf teachers talked with IB teachers and administrators at the various schools and sat in on some IB and pre-IB classes. Mr. Imerson and Dr. Lepely visited classrooms and also met with administrators at the schools.

Some pictures from the visit to Sebastian River High School appear below.
