
Patricia Lengell accepts position at a school in Chile
GULF HIGH SCHOOL, Sept. 20, 2000 - Patricia Lengell, who has been a guidance counselor at Gulf for ten years, has accepted a similar position at a school in Chile.
Mrs. Lengell will be the guidance counselor for middle school students at the International School Nido de Aguilas in Santiago. American students in grades K through 12 attend the school.
Assistant Principal Tom Imerson announced Mrs. Lengell's departure at a faculty meeting on September 20 and thanked her for her "outstanding work" and the "wonderful support" she has given him and Gulf High School during the last ten years.
Asked why she has chosen to move to Chile, Mrs. Lengell, who has never even visited South America, said, "I love to travel and education is important and I'm able to do both in one."
Mrs. Lengell joined the faculty of Gulf High School in August 1990. In addition to her role as a guidance counselor, she chaired the scholarship committee at Gulf. She previously taught Spanish at St. Petersburg Catholic School, Spanish and English in Illinois, and Spanish in Michigan. She is originally from Lake City, Michigan. She has a B. A. degree in Spanish from Aquinas College and an M. A. and Ed. S. degree from the University of South Florida.
She starts her new job on October 16.
