
Gulf teacher to present at national convention
Gulf High School English teacher Jan Ledman will take part in a program during the 92nd annual convention of the National Convention of Teachers of English (NCTE), which will be held in Atlanta on November 21-26, 2002.
Mrs. Ledman will be one of three presenters demonstrating ways to integrate poetry instruction into the classroom. The title of her session is "Foregrounding the Imagination Through Poetry: Prompts and Techniques."
Some 6,000 teachers, teacher supervisors, and teacher educators will attend this year's NCTE convention.
The National Council of Teachers of English, with 75,000 individual and institutional members worldwide, is dedicated to improving the teaching and learning of English and the language arts at all levels of education.
Mrs. Ledman has taught at Gulf High School since the 1995-96 school year. She holds a poetry reading program after school each month, and has published a literary magazine at Gulf each year. She also sponsors the Poesy club.
Before coming to Gulf, she taught at Ridgewood High School for thirteen years. She has a B. A. degree in Sociology from USF and an M. A. degree in English from Pan American University.
