Six new teachers join Gulf faculty

GULF HIGH SCHOOL, July 31, 2003.—Six new teachers will join the faculty of Gulf High School at the start of the 2003-2004 school year. They are as follows:

LOREN CHAUNCEY teaches World History and ESE English. Starting in 1984 she taught at Hudson Middle School and Bayonet Point Middle School. She then was employed by Charter Hospital and taught adult education in Hillsborough County. She has a bachelors degree in Interdisciplinary Social and Behavioral Sciences. She was born in New York City and raised in Miami.

SONIA KUPERIS teaches ninth-grade English. She has taught for 33 years, starting in Boston. She taught in California for six years and in Alberta and British Columbia in Canada. In 2000 she and her husband, who is a musician and band teacher, sailed from Vancouver through the Panama Canal and then to Florida. She is from Springfield, Mass. She has a B. A. degree in English from Boston University and a post-baccalaureate degree in Learning Disabilities.

SAMANTHA MURCHIE teaches Integrated Science and Biology. She previously taught at Ridgewood High School but has also worked in private industry. She has two children. She is from Orlando. She has a B. S. degree from the University of Florida in Exercise Physiology and an MBA degree from St. Leo University.

LIZZETTE NAZARIO teaches Spanish I and II. She taught elementary school for a number of years. She was most recently at Chasco Middle School before coming to Gulf.

HANNAH TRAPANI teaches math. She graduated from USF a bachelor's degree in Secondary Math Education and a minor in Mathematics. She and her husband Joe, who also teaches at Gulf, have a son who is almost three years old. She is from St. Petersburg.

TINA WALLACE is a media specialist. Although she attended Gulf High School as a student for about a year, she is a graduate of Countryside High School, where she worked for three years. She has a Bachelor's degree in Social Science Education and a Master's degree in Library and Information Science from USF. She has two children. She was born in Buffalo, N. Y. She moved to Florida at age 10 and attended Gulfside Elementary School and Gulf Junior High School.
