![]() The other Gulf High School![]()
![]() In the 1920s and 1930s, another Gulf High School existed in the former town of Gulf, Texas. The school was closed at the end of the 1937-38 school year because of low enrollment, as the Texas Gulf Sulphur operations closed and many residents of the town moved elsewhere. The school served the towns of Gulf, Matagorda, and Wadsworth in Matagorda County, Texas, for 16 years. These pictures of the boys and girls basketball teams are from the 1936 yearbook, The Pirate. They were recently added to a Texas genealogy web site http://www.rootsweb.com/~txmatago/gulf_high_school.htm. |
