Gulf wrestler Joey Pospisil, a third-place finisher in the past two state tournaments, will sign a letter of intent Thursday with NAIA power Missouri Valley College, Bucs coach Travis DeWalt announced.

DeWalt said Pospisil's scholarship will cover approximately 80 percent of his expenses - the most an NAIA program can offer a student-athlete.

Missouri Valley has won three NAIA national titles in the past nine years, and has produced at least seven All- Americans every year since 1996.

Pospisil, a two-time first- team selection on The Tampa Tribune's All-Pasco County squad, could join that elite fraternity.

He finished his prep career with a 101-15 record, finishing third at the Class 1A state meet at 103 pounds (in 2003) and 112 (in '04). Both times, he lost to the eventual state champion.

``Oh my gosh, he lives [wrestling],'' DeWalt said. ``It's not just a sport for him. If we had a hundred Joeys, we'd be the Brandon of Pasco County wrestling.''

Standing behind Joey are Coach DeWalt, Mr. Imerson, and Rachel and Edward Pospisil
