Gulf NJROTC places first at drill meet
GULF HIGH SCHOOL, March 27, 2000 - Gulf High School's Naval Junior ROTC students took overall first place at the Camden High School Drill Meet held in Kingsland, Georgia, on March 25.
Seven schools from Florida and Georgia took part in the meet.
Gulf took first place in color guard, armed drill exhibition, unarmed basic, team physical fitness, and optional exhibition.
Gulf took second place in air rifle shooting, armed drill basic, 2000-yard schuttle, and academics.
Among individual winners were Mike Herrera, who took second place in individual drill, Quinn Lowry, who took third place in boys situps, Olivia Chase, who won first place in girls situps, and Patrick Burns, who took second place in boys situps.
Lt. Wysocki said that 43 Gulf students participated in the meet. He said that additional students attended as observers, for a total of 59 who made the trip to Georgia.
