SACS team visits Gulf

GULF HIGH SCHOOL, March 17, 2005 -- A team of six educators visited Gulf High School this week on behalf of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, an agency which accredits schools in the southeastern U. S. every five years.

The team was headed by Howard Hawk, a former administrator at Citrus High School, and also included: Pamela Campbell-Peralta, Principal of Chamberlain High School; Margaret Delgato, curriculum specialist at St. Petersburg Collegiate High School; Janice Mazur, guidance chair at Jefferson High School; Marcia Monk, assistant principal at East Bay High School; Sharon Morris, assistant principal at East Bay High School.

The team interviewed administrators, faculty members, students, and parents, and visited several classrooms. They also examined a lengthy self-study conducted by Gulf High School personnel which included a survey of opinions of students, teachers, parents, and community members.

At a faculty meeting after school today the team members presented a summary of their findings, and we are delighted to report that they had many compliments about Gulf High School's teachers, administrators, and parents. Their complete report will be sent to Mr. Imerson later.
