NEW PORT RICHEY -- Jenna Thomas returned Monday from Nashville after the teen finished a recording to be distributed nationwide next year.

"Useless" and "One Track Mind" are the two tracks on the compact disc, which might be released first as singles, according to Jenna's mother, Marylou Thomas.

Both tunes are written by songwriting legend Tom Shapiro.

Robert Metzger, who has worked with many top country stars, including Alan Jackson, Kenny Rogers and Garth Brooks, produces Jenna's recording.

The first single could get airplay on radio stations by January or February, Thomas said Monday in an interview. After the single is sampled over the airwaves, the CD could arrive in stores such as Wal-Mart by spring.

Jenna's schedule remains hectic, as she has juggled recording for the album, personal appearances and school homework.

"Gulf High has been real good with us" about forwarding assignments to Jenna, her mother said.

Parents Mike and Marylou have accompanied her on numerous trips to the capital of country music. They will have to return to Nashville soon to shoot the cover photos for the CD.

While in Nashville last week, Jenna performed at the renowned Legends Corner club. "She brought the house down," Marylou Thomas commented, especially when Jenna sang "Crazy," a Willie Nelson song made famous by Patsy Cline.

Back home, Jenna, 17, is scheduled to appear at the Mason Dixon Christmas Wish List show Dec. 13 in Brandon, organized by the popular radio show host on WRBQ 104.7-FM.
