Vlahakis sets school swim record

GULF HIGH SCHOOL, Oct. 20, 1999 - Freshman Emily Vlahakis set a new Gulf High School record in the 100-meter breaststroke at a swim competition today against Ridgewood.

Emily, who has been swimming since she was six years old, swam the distance in 1:16.50, beating the old school record set in 1995.

Both the girls' and boys' teams beat Ridgewood in the meet, which was held at the New Port Richey Recreation Center.
