June 2003
Dear GHS Class of 2003 Student & Parent,
Congratulations on your recent graduation. Each member of the class can be proud for his/her efforts and accomplishments. For some the academic road is easy and seen with a great deal of excitement. For others the road is filled with pit-falls and difficulties. Only you know how much effort the journey took.
Enclosed you will find your final high school report card! We have tried to review each card for accuracy but errors do occur. If you find an error call the school and leave a message for Mrs. Haynes. She will review your concern and contact you. Because Mrs. Haynes will be gone from the campus from June 13 through July 18 I recommend that seniors call immediately. If you need a correction for your final transcript it is imperative that you contact her with all great haste.
The years have come and gone and now you have completed one very large hurdle. I do hope your years at Gulf High School have been good years. From the senior surveys you completed at graduation practice it seems the vast majority of graduates were well satisfied with the education they received at GHS. If you have any specific areas about the school you would like to share - things you liked or suggestions for improvement - I welcome your input. Just put your comments in writing and send them to me.
As I said at graduation on May 23, we will be having a new building built within the next year. Although it will be a small building, it will be a great addition to the campus. GHS has always been a great school but sometimes it takes a bad "rap" due to a poor perceptions. As a graduate I hope you will spread the good news about GHS.
Now that you are a graduate of GHS I encourage you to become involved in your community. In November 2004 you will have an opportunity to take part in a very important process: Voting. On the ballot will be an issue which I encourage you to become informed about - The Penny Sales Tax. The passing of this issue will allow the school district to build new facilities and upgrade current facilities. The district's population is increasing by 2,000 students PER YEAR which equals a large high school PER YEAR or almost three elementary schools PER YEAR! In order to maintain the quality of education in Pasco County it is imperative that everyone become aware of the issue and then take the time to vote.
As the 2002-2003 school year come to a close, I want to thank each of the families and individual students for their support of Gulf High and me. My first year as Principal was a great experience. The Class of 2003 will always remain close to my heart. I wish each of you all good things in the future.
Most sincerely,
Thomas E. Imerson
Principal
