May 2, 2005 Dear GHS Parent/Guardian, How the year has flown! The end of the school year is less than a month away. Exams, graduation and the last day of school for underclassmen are all just around the comer. Please take time to review the information found in this communication. As the year comes to a close Parents are asked to remind students that all school regulations (especially dress code, cell phone use and ID badge policy) are in effect. At this time of the year many students try to take liberty with school regulations. I frequently remind the students and faculty that we must be keenly aware of the regulations. Family assistance with our efforts can go a long way! Exam Schedule The graduating Seniors will have their exams given during their regular classes, instead of extended testing times. For the underclassmen (9th, 10, and 11th graders) there will be extended time as indicated in the following schedule. For Honors and Advanced Placement classes an official exam worth 15% of the student's final grade is given and the grade is reported on the student's final report card. Exam Days: Wednesday, May 18: Periods 3 and 6 Graduation Information Senior parents should have received a special letter regarding all of the details relating to graduation (May 20 at 7:00 P.M. in the Bever-Hicks Activity Center). Reminder: If a family has guests who are handicapped they are to contact my secretary, Mrs. DeCubellis (774-3302), to make arrangements for special seating. In the letter I stated that if parents would like to plan an end-of-year picnic that would be fine. I am happy to report that a group of parents have come forward and are in the midst of planning a picnic. This special event will take place after the final graduation practice on May 18, at the GHS football field. Students will move directly from the graduation practice to the football field. Parent Survey - Online The District School Board of Pasco County is piloting the use of the computer to deliver an online parent satisfaction survey. Please participate by logging on the district's home page at: http://www.pasco.k12.fl.us click on District Parent Survey. This may be completed any time between May 2 and May 13, 2005. Your participation in this survey will provide the district with useful information in the planning of delivery options for future surveys. The results of this survey will be shared with schools for use in developing the school's Continuous Improvement Plan. Honor Roll School Year 2004-2005 - Honor Roll (Third Quarter)
Pranks As we near the end of the school year please remember that school pranks will not be tolerated. All pranks will be investigated and students involved will be disciplined according to the Student Code of Conduct. If necessary, law enforcement will be involved. Seniors who participate in a school prank, damage property, trespass after hours, or participate in any type of mischief towards the school (including school personnel) may not be allowed to participate in graduation activities - which could include the graduation ceremony. I am so proud to be the principal of Gulf High School and I look forward to the opportunity to serve you and your children in the future. Have a great end of the year and a most enjoyable and restful summer! Most sincerely, |
