Meeting Called to Order
Meeting called to order at 6:04 pm by Sherry Giunta, Chairperson.

Minutes from November 26 and October 22 - approved, seconded, and passed with corrections requested by Mr. Imerson.
PHCC Presentation – Dr. Beard
Dr. Beard had previously met with student government/council groups to discuss an elaborate and engaging partnership, which could prove to be a win-win situation for GHS. The introduction of the new anticipated plan is for PHCC students to tutor and/or mentor FCAT Focus Groups (lowest 25%) at least 2 hours per week. Details of plan/program to be forthcoming.
Epep Registration – Mrs. Trapp
Mrs. Trapp introduced FACTS.org which is Florida’s online student advising website. Students and parents can use the services provided to plan and track academic progress. This program is provided free to help students make informed choices about their education. Students can use his or her course summary for registration and transcript information to evaluate progress towards graduation and Bright Futures Scholarships. During the registration process for the 2008-2009 school year, all students will individually meet with their appropriate guidance counselor. GHS is the only Pasco school to meet with each student.
Five
Mrs. Nazario discussed her new duties as the Five Star School coordinator for the portfolio replacing Mrs. Wallace. Mrs. Nazario discussed the five areas for which the award is given. Also discussed were the amounts of volunteer hours to date. She asked for support as she dives into this new endeavor.
Review of Various Action Plans – Mrs. Buono, Mr. Labarbara
“D” School Action
Plan
Mrs. Buono discussed with handout the goals and objectives for addressing the school grade action plan. Through implementation of the plan and continuous progress monitoring of the lowest quartile it is expected that these students will be able to meet district and state standards in the area of reading.
SIP/CIP
Mr. Labarbara discussed with handout the action plan for GHS’s School Improvement Plan (SIP) which is integrated into the Continuous Improvement Plan (CIP).
LFS/Action Plan
Mr. Labarbara also discussed with handout the implementation of the recent LFS workshops being held with GHS teachers. LFS is a research based school improvement framework of best practices that emphasizes planning, a prioritized curriculum, instructional strategies, assessment and school organization to maximize student achievement. Through these workshops teachers are learning various ways to share strategies and curriculum using the new LFS lesson plan format.
Open
FCAT Focus groups have been assigned (lowest 25%) and are currently meeting to discuss and practice skills and strategies.
A letter was sent home to all sophomores students and parents informing them of the new graduation requirement in which all sophomores will be taking the FCAT Writing + and also that all students must take the test until they pass it.
Two portables were added due the extra allotments.
The GHS Wrestling Team had a great 10-2 season, earning the title(s) of District Champs and SAC Conference runner-ups.
During a recent bomb threat all precautions were appropriately taken. Authorities were notified, building evacuated and rooms along with all book bags were searched. Threat was at that point was considered unfounded with no incident.
